What They’re Saying

Testimonials & FAQ: Testimonials

I am very fortunate to have had two services done by Emily before, for both make-up and lash extensions, and her work speaks entirely for itself. If anyone was in need of a beauty service and was asking for suggestions on who go to, Emily would be the first person I'd recommend to them. From the moment you step foot into her salon she makes you feel comfortable, relaxed, and presents herself so professionally. She is my go-to!

Jacqueline Arblaster

Emily made me feel welcome from the very start. Had my lashes lifted as well as my lashes tinted & they turned out amazingly beautiful. I strongly recommend this wonderful, amazing, talented woman in doing any sort of beauty treatment. She’ll definitely make you feel beautiful as well as relaxed.

FAQ

Is there a no children policy?

For safety reasons we have kindly requested for our clients not to bring children under the age of 12 to your appointment. Please make sure your children have a babysitter or any minding arrangements the day of your appointment. It is the salon’s policy not only for the child’s safety, but to make sure every appointment goes in a smooth and timely manner for each client.

If unable to find any babysitting option for your child/children, such as if a sitter has pulled out at a last minute and can't find another alternative you'll be required to cancel or postpone your appointment (cancellation fee MAY or may not come into affect depending on reason). Please know that if you attend to your appointment with your child/children you'll be asked to postpone/cancel appointment on the spot and to leave the premise in order to keep this rule fair amongst clients, especially for those that have been following this policy.

If bringing a child that is 12 and over due to the capacity of the salon space only ONE child/another individual is allowed to attend. If plan to bring a friend, relative etc please contact us prior to see if it's ok to proceed to bring someone due to common courtesy reasons as our salon is located on our property and we deeply appreciate you'll ask us prior.

We deeply apologise for any offence and inconvenience this may have caused but due to past experience this rule has been in place for quite sometime and will be here to stay.

Thank you all for your understanding and support!

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes, there is now. It is a %50 fee if cancel/reschedule less then 24 hours of your appointment and a %100 fee for a no show, but if you cancel/reschedule within atleast 24 hours before your appointment then there is no charge. I understand last minute things do pop up as it happens to the best of us, but when you cancel last minute or not show up there are other clients that would like to have that spot as well and for them potentially miss out on a spot to make a appointment, and I understand that you don't have any bad intentions on your part if you do cancel last minute. Another example as to why this rule is in place is that if someone is cancelling last minute it's also hard to fill in that spot in a short period of time especially when i free up some time in my schedule for that particular appointment beforehand, so to keep it fair amongst myself and especially to all of my other clients who would like to make a booking I have put in a cancellation policy for these reasons. Deepest apologies for any inconveniences or offence this may have caused.

I am getting my first tan, what before care advice should i follow?

Shower and exfoliate your skin atleast a day before your tan to remove excess of dry and dead skin to help prepare the skin to be smooth to ensure a long lasting tan. For shaving it is recommended to shave 24 hours before and for waxing 48 hours to give the pores time to heal. On the day of your tanning don't apply moisturizer, perfume or deodorant as it can compromise the tan, the other effect is that it will create a barrier on your skin, and this means the tan might not get absorbed well.

Do I need a patch test before to prepare for my lash lift/tint appointment?

It is definitely recommended (not mandatory) to recieve a patch test before receiving the treatment. The lash lift glue is specifically designed to hold shields and lashes in place during treatment without causing damage to the skin or lashes, it is gentle on the skin so a reaction is really rare, but a patch test for a lash lift is something i also recommended just in case if a reaction may occur. Patch test is also recommended for a lash/brow tint aswell.

Whats the legal age requirement for treatments such as waxing and tanning?

For spray tanning it's 16 years of age but with a parental consent. Children under the age of 16 may not get tanned even with parental consent. For waxing young children from such as 12 and up can get waxed but a parent/guardian must be present. For intimate waxing such as bikini we won't allow unless the client is atleast 18 years old.

Patch test is highly recommended (not mandatory) if haven't had a spray tan before. Please arrange a patch test and consultation atleast 48 hours prior to your appointment if wish to do so.

Why does the Hair & Make-up trial cost the same as the actual Hair & Make-up service?

Reason why i charge the same amount for the trial is because i'm spending most of the day as i would when doing your Hair & Make-up for your special occasion to make sure i cater and deliver the results to your satisfaction.

Which brow tattoo do you think will be better for me?

For oily skin Ombre/Misty, Powder, or Combo is ideal as it's a technique that gives a beautiful soft powdered or pixeled look which is perfect for clients who have very oily skin and lasts longer then having microbladed brows.
You can still get microbladed brows if have oily skin but if want a long lasting brow tattoo with a better colour pay off then the Ombre/Misty, Powder or Combo Brow maybe be a better option. Normal-dry skin types can also recieve these brow tattoo styles aswell.
For dry skin however, microbladed hair strokes will heal very crisp as dry skin will also retain colour the longest amount of time.

Why do i need a touch up after my first brow tattoo appointment?

It is important after 4-6 weeks your first appointment that you complete the touch up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Colour will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, colour tones and finishes the process.

How long does a brow tattoo last?

Cosmetic Tattooed brows can lasts about 12-18 months. Some cases maybe 6 months but usually it is between the 12-18 month mark.

How much is it for travel fees for mobile services?

It's 78c per kilometer, if location is within 13.6km it's free of charge anything further will result a travel fee. For inquires in regards to this please contact me.

What is a Spray Tan Trial?

If have a event coming up or if you're a bride-to-be looking for the right spray tan technician also need to find (and love) the perfect shade of bronze prior to your upcoming event and then a trial is something you can look into. Where you can try out our spray tans we have in our salon and you can book as many trials if you please, so think of this as a 'try before your commit' option.

It’s about ensuring you have the best spray tan you could possibly have especially finding the best spray tan technician, and at Emily Jay Beauty we can take care of that for you to ensure you're satisfied with the results.

DO WE RECOMMEND THIS?

If unsure what shade of bronze you want and in the process of finding the right professional to carry out your spray tan for your upcoming event or just like to get one on a regular basis then we strongly recommend a trial so that way on the day of your event you'll feel more confident of the spray tan you've selected. We'll also offer an 1 on 1 education on before & aftercare to help you prolong your results

How old do I need to be to get cosmetic tattooing done?

Legally you have to be atleast 18 years and over.

Do you do touch-ups on other People's work in regards to cosmetic tattooing?

No we don't. Our touch up service is only for our existing clients not for those that had brows done elsewhere, we do not go over them until they have faded to our satisfaction and especially if it has been a couple years or so on since the brows were last done, so that way we can do our best work. Once your brows are ready to be re-done full prices apply (touch-up prices won't count for brows needed to be redone, only to existing clients who recently had a brow tattoo done with us!)

Do I need a patch test and consultation prior to getting my brows tattooed?

It is HIGHLY recommended that you do a patch test even including those that had their brows tattooed in the past (.e.g 1-2+ years ago) given how our allergies can change over a period time, even though it's not mandatory for a patch test to be done but it's something that we strongly encouraged especially if you're very sensitive, are highly concerned or have a lot of allergies. A medical clearance is a must such as if have diabetes etc, (for further information on what else requires a medical clearance please contact us directly prior to your appointment) We have a right to refuse service you if you fail to do so. Consultation forms are mandatory which needs to be completed atleast 24-72 hours prior. If don't complete it in time then we have a right to cancel/reschedule the appointment otherwise we won't feel comfortable continuing the service without knowing certain information if it's safe or not to proceed the tattoo.

**If pregnant or breastfeeding you won't be allowed to receive this service**

How do I know how long my appointment will take?

Depending what service you're getting done and when you book with us you'll recieve a automatic booking confirmation where it'll state the estimate length your appointment will be. Please know that it may change depending on the client.
If wish to know more please call or message us.

My booking reminder said I need to confirm with my card, is this necessary and will my information be private?

Yes, you'll be required to confirm your appointment with your card in order to secure your booking otherwise it won't show it is secure especially when someone books online and will still show that time slot you're want to book for is still available and the appointment won't go ahead if the client refuses to confirm by card. This prevents from appointments to be doubled booked, also to protect us as a business to prevent no shows and late cancellations and to keep it fair amongst other clients (for further information on our cancellation policy and why it's in place please check out the question above our FAQ page)If you don't confirm your appointment within 24 hours you're appointment maybe get cancelled which we have a right to do so.

Yes your information will remain private including your card details, our booking system called 'Fresha' is not a 3rd party system where information will be sent without the client's permission, at Fresha their security is being taking very seriously. Your information including your card details will not be shared with anyone or any third parties. All user data is securely backed-up every 5 minutes on Fresha’s encrypted cloud database. Information on the client's consultation is to remain private between the client and the professional such as us (except for card details that is only for the client to view). Otherwise, it'll be illegal if we do share information with other parties where the client has a right to seek legal action if it happens, and keeping information private between us and the client is something that we strongly take seriously.
We also won't be authorized to take out payment from the client's chosen card whenever without the client's consent and including not untill the appointment has been finished.

For further information on Fresha and more information about them customers can view at their own time on their website.

Is it mandatory to complete a consultation form?

Yes, consultation forms are mandatory given that we need the correct information to know if it's safe to proceed with your appointment also that way we know how to successfully carry out the service based on what information is given, if haven't filled one in atleast 24 hours before your appointment then we have the right to cancel/reschedule your booking, so please have it filled out atleast 24-72 hours prior to your appointment. You'll recieve a automatic booking confirmation message where you can click on the link where it'll lead to you to complete the consultation form online. If need assistance on filling one in and prefer to do this face-to-face please contact us early in advance before your appointment to arrange a free consult. The same thing goes for any service you've booked for.

I want to book for a patch test and a consultation, is it free?

A patch test and a consultation are free of charge whether it's for cosmetic tattooing, spray tan, lash lift or tint. We strongly recommend if wish to do one to book atleast 48-72 hours prior to your appointment.
In the end it is the client's responsibility to arrange a booking for a patch test, we can strongly encouraged you to get a patch test but it's up to the client to agree to it. The only time where we refuse to do a service without a patch test is that if there's a situation where a client needs a medical clearance or has a contraindication/health reasons that sparks concerns that we need to arrange patch test to be better safe than sorry.

If the situation involves where a medical clearance from a GP is needed then a medical clearance must be arranged before arranging a patch test to ensure if it's safe to proceed.
